About Us

Overview

Founded in 2018, De Rose Community Bridge and Holistic Wellness (DRB) is a culturally specific and culturally responsive nonprofit serving immigrants, refugees, and houseless individuals in Portland and Beaverton, Oregon. DRB provides wrap-around services designed to improve health, stability, and well-being for marginalized communities.

We believe that everyone needs support to connect to their purpose at some point in life. With the ultimate goal of empowering individuals and reconnecting families, DRB provides:

  • Culturally relevant mental health services for women.

  • Youth mentoring and after-school programs to bridge educational and cultural gaps.

  • Wrap-around services for houseless individuals, including food, resources, and job-readiness support.

Our mission is to holistically address mental health, hunger, and poverty in the community.

Background & History

DRB was founded by Rose Vakkai, an immigrant who arrived in 2010 as an international student and single mother. Experiencing poverty, depression, and the stigma of seeking mental health support, Rose transformed her struggles into purpose by founding DRB. Her vision was and continues to be to create a safe harbor where immigrants and houseless individuals find support, connection, and opportunity.
